Hello again, been a while since i've been on. I've been real busy with stuff at the house and on my car. but just checking in with you all. My aunts passing has kinda set up I will miss her very much, and her expertise will be missed, but i'm sure she will still see the work i continue to do, and be there with me every step of the way. On another note ive began to work on a few other ideas and projects. continuing to work on my violent consumer series, but soon i think i will be wrapping it up. so a few more rifles and ill be done. also looking into working with acrylic resin and that i hope will open up some new possibilities. As far as ceramics goes, i'm going to be president of the ceramic guild next semester, something i look forward too. so hope things will be on the Up and up.
          later guys!

Well again I haven't been as timely in writing as i could be, however here I am again. So it has truly been a busy few days, family has been out from both sides of my family, and i haven't gotten to do much of my own work with everyone being over. That is ok tho, as i will have plenty of time over this summer to do my work. My Aunt Terri whom struggled for years with her brain cancer passed this lat week. She was and is still one of my greatest inspirations as an artist. My family had been visiting her up until the end, and as sad as I am to see her go, It is somewhat of a relief to know that she is now in a better place and no longer suffering.
I have done some sketching again, and it is kind of a nice way to make some quick art and take my mind off things now and then. Today I took some family to visit the Cantor Art Center at Stanford, and i found myself inspired by many of the tribal and African art pieces they had on display. On a side note I also somehow acquired a spoon in my daily travels and made it into a ring for my girlfriend.

Hot Weather, the Fair, and Henna Tattoos

Hello again. been a day or two so i figured id write again. so today my whole family went to the Alameda County Fair. I was fun but the temperature was soo hot. we checked the temp at the car and it read 106 deg (Fahrenheit) now I'm not sure if that was just the temp at the car (it was parked in the grass tho) or if that was the actual temp, but man was it Hot. On the bright side, the food was great as usual, and the rides i did go on were fun. with the exception of a haunted house that was only scary because of the temperature in the ride ): Well we left there and went home cooled of for a bit and then My girlfriend and I ran to the Indian store down the street and got some Henna to do some body art. I'm not sure if i've made it clean, but i plan on getting a set of sleeves done in real ink, so I thought it might be fun to experiment and" try on" some sleeves temporarily.  I ended up doing a neat peacock on my girlfriends back, and then she tagged me back with a "tribal-esq" design up my side. I like it. So that was the day (: Also i should have some new experimental work out soon. Im using old video cameras and shooting 8mm film in black and white, and color and ill be splicing  footage together and projecting it up on random things or in random things. more on that soon!

In other news my aunt is still hanging in there like the champ she is. California has come to its senses regarding equality (something that should be a no brainer), and my car is back up and running and as fast as it used to be. (:

Hello all. its been a day or to since i wrote and i figured id update you all. I've been spending some time with my Aunt Terri as she passes from her brain cancer. She is and has always been a great artist (check out her work at www.designerhill.com ) and really the woman who got me hooked on creating work of my own. This time I've been spending with her has really got me thinking and creating new ideas in my mind. I think Id stated before that I plan to make a series of boxing gloves which I hope to engrave with her name and the names of others who have passed while fighting a life-threatening disease.
In other news Ive been looking into my own Indonesian culture, and creating a "sleeve" tattoo design for myself. Im only done with less than 1/4 of it and will be continuing my work on it, but it is at 1 to 1 scale, and hopefully it will be an exact fit on my skinny arm. so here is a pic or two and enjoy until I write again

Well here we are day two. so lets get some new info for you all. set up the space for my show tomorrow and while the lighting isn't ideal i think the space looks pretty good with all the work installed.  There are a few artists there whose work is really impressive too me. Overall i think this show will be a success. Other than that my aunt who is loosing her ongoing battle against cancer has inspired me to think about a new piece or series of pieces. I've been thinking about casting boxing gloves and maybe dipping them in crushed glass for a unique crystalish/shimmery shine. I was then thinking of engraving her name as well as maybe others such as my grandmother and mothers name on these gloves. the idea being that life while fighting a life threatening disease is a constant fight. and i want to pay tribute to those who have fought and continued this fight. so we will see where that goes to.

On another note i'm working on my car today. something that i enjoy, and hopefully it will be back on the road again soon. i really enjoy working and driving my car (:

Well hello, I guess now is as good a time as any to start a blog on here. Basically just figured since it takes a bit for me to get a new piece up here for viewing, i may as well let you all see what i'm working on as i do it.  well where to start. this week has been a bust week. I got "volunteered" to put in a new shower at my grandpas house. this consisted of tearing out the walls, doing the plumbing (which i didn't mind i got to braze and i like fire) putting in cement board and tiling up the shower. This job was a pain with the exception of playing with fire. That job on top of the fact that I have a show this Friday. ("Kaled-o-scope") that's this Saturday the 22nd at 5-9 pm at 2905 S. King rd. San Jose CA 95148. And yeah that's some shameless self promoting going on there. So i'm trying to get ready for that as well.  My car is also having a few issues. I'm a huge car fan and my cars having a few issues that i need to fix at the moment. ): Also my aunt, the one who got me into art from the beginning and my biggest art role model  is not doing well at all so i'm trying my best to see her as often as i can.

But back to art work. so ive been continuing this violent consumer series with a new piece i call "Home Invasion"  this project started as a floral foam block. This block i then cut with a hacksaw blade into the familiar shape of an AR15 .

Picture
After i cut the shape i then went and purchased a variety of silk flowers. I wanted fake flowers as im trying to go for a rather "cheapish" aesthetic similar to some cheap home decor or something your mother might have had around for years.
Picture
excuse the blurry photo, but this is the start of this project with some flowers in place
Picture
And here is alittle later, it was actually more of a challange to lay these flowers out than i originaly thought. i figured i could just arrange the whole flower bunches onto the rifle and make it look like a more natural bouquet, however i soon found that this cause a problem as the objects shape became lost under layers of flowers.
Picture
And here it is almost finished. Id like to build a mounting plate for it ive been struggling to decide what to do however. sooo more to come
